Bolga baskets or Bolgatanga baskets are handwoven in Bolgatanga, the northernmost province of Ghana. The Bolga basket is a traditional, handmade product. The range varies from very colourful to natural baskets, all made of sturdy elephant grass. The weaving of the baskets is solely done by the women. Weaving one basket takes 5-6 days!
There are many advantages of using natural materials in your interior. In our blogpost we tell you more about it.
The basket makers live in the villages around Bolgatanga and are not organised. A nice job to find the right distribution channels! TradeAID (WFTO member) is the partner to make this possible.
As this is a Fairtrade product, we ensure continuity of income and fair payment to the makers of these beautiful Bolga baskets. If the basket becomes out of shape, you can moisten it and reshape it.
