This Moroccan rug is hand woven by Berber women of the tribal region Boujad. Characteristic of these 100% Boujad wool rugs are the asymmetrical patterns and beautiful warm colours. The typical pink, red and orange tones -which you find in our Boujad cushions- are interspersed with other colours in this rug. Thanks to many hours under the Moroccan sun, they have been softened to the most fantastic pastel shades.
A rug like this one is knotted simultaneously by 2 to 3 Berber women for several months. The weaving techniques have been passed down through generations. From modern designs to vintage abstract form, this is a way the Berber women carefully preserve their heritage of technique and knowledge passing down messages in wool from one generation to another, creating textiles full of life and charm.
