Pink & Blue Handwoven Bicycle Basket – Fairtrade from Ghana
Give your bike an instant glow-up with this eye-catching pink and blue bicycle basket, beautifully handwoven in Ghana from wild veta vera grass. With its bold colours woven into a natural grass base, this basket adds a pop of personality and practicality to any ride – whether you're picking up flowers at the market, heading to the park for a picnic, or cycling to the gym.
Spacious enough for your books, lunch, gym kit or fresh produce, it’s as versatile as it is beautiful. Use it as a classic front bike basket, attach it to the rear as a pannier, or even repurpose it at home as stylish storage – perfect on stair rails, in bathrooms, or beside a cot for nappies and toys.
Every basket is a unique work of art, taking up to three days to make by hand. The wild veta vera grass, also known as elephant grass, is harvested, hand-rolled, dyed in boiling water using natural pigments, and then masterfully woven by artisans from our partner cooperative in Northern Ghana.
Most of these talented weavers are also farmers, living in areas where the dry season makes agriculture unpredictable. Basket weaving provides a reliable alternative income during tough months, helping families meet their basic needs while preserving one of the oldest crafts in human history.
By choosing this basket, you’re not only supporting fair trade and sustainable craftsmanship – you’re directly contributing to better livelihoods and the continuation of a beautiful handmade tradition.
Features: Can be used on front or rear of bike, includes two leather straps for secure attachment
